Steven R. Koense, Esquire
Steven R. Koense is an associate at the firm Potts, Shoemaker & Grossman. His practice area focuses primarily in all areas of Family Law. Steve is a member of the Delaware County Bar Association serving as a Member of the Board of Directors in 2014 and 2015, as well as in 2020-2021.
As a member of the Family Law Section, Steve was Chairperson of the Family Law Section (2011); Vice Chairperson of the Family Law Section (2010); Treasurer of the Family Law Section (2007 – 2009, 2012 – 2016); Chairman of the Technology Committee for Family Law Section (2003 – 2006); Co-Chairman of the Protection from Abuse Committee for Family Law Section (2001 – 2003); and chair of the Technology Committee of the Family Law Section (2003 – 2006). In 2015, he received the Eric D. Turner award.
In addition to his commitment to the Delaware County Family Law Section, Steve is also actively involved with the Women’s Resource Center in Wayne, PA providing legal advice to women in need and organizing free legal seminars where he was a featured speaker on Family Law topics in 2013 and 2014.
Steve is a member of the Doris Jonas Freed Matrimonial Inns of Court where he served as President of the Inn from 2017 to 2018.
Steve also is a frequent speaker on various Family Law topics: Family Law Update, Delaware County Bench Bar Conference (2010); Complex issues in Protection from Abuse Matters for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (2001); 8th Annual Family Law Institute, Guest Lecturer (PBI) (2013) lecturing on Custody practices and procedures under the new statute and rules, as well as Equitable Distribution matters.
Steve is an Adjunct Professor for the Graduate, International, Compliance & Legal Studies Programs at Widener Delaware Law School, and is a member of the Widener University Delaware School of Law – Legal Studies Board of Advisors (2018 – present).
Steve graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in 1993. He graduated from Widener University School of Law in 1997 and was the President of the Student Bar Association from 1996 -1997, earning the Dean Arthur A. Weeks Award for Outstanding Service to the Law School.
