Erin Patton is an attorney at Potts, Shoemaker & Grossman who has practiced family law exclusively since being admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar.  Erin focuses her practice solely on family law matters including divorce, equitable distribution, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, child support, APL/spousal support, custody (including grandparents rights and in loco parentis rights), protection from abuse, adoption, termination of parental rights, and name changes.

Professional Experience

Before entering law school, Erin worked as a legal assistant for a well-known law firm in Chester County assisting several litigators in various practice areas.  While working as a legal assistant she decided to become an attorney and entered law school taking classes at night.  While still in law school, Erin went on to clerk for both the Honorable Anthony A. Sarcione as well as the Honorable Katherine BL Platt and the Chester County Master’s Unit.  While clerking for Judge Platt, Erin decided to dedicate her practice solely to family law.  After finishing her clerkship, Erin went on to become an associate for a respected Chester County family law practitioner for several years before joining Potts, Shoemaker and Grossman in 2021.

Personal Background

Erin is a lifelong resident of Chester County having graduated from Coatesville High School.  She continues to reside in Chester County with her husband, two daughters, and two Labrador Retrievers.  Being the granddaughter/great-granddaughter of both a farmer and a doctor, she grew up learning the value of persistence and hard work first-hand from a young age.  In her time away from the office, Erin enjoys spending time with her family at the beach and the park.  She also enjoys trying new restaurants and curling up with a good book.

Educational Background

Erin obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Neumann College where she graduated magna cum laude.  After obtaining her undergraduate degree she went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate from the Delaware Law School at Widener University.  During law school Erin participated in the Veterans Law Clinic where she assisted disabled veterans in obtaining benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
